A dorayaki stacked like a tiny drum. A strawberry blushing through a wrap of mochi. Dango threaded on a skewer, one shade of pink, white, and green after another. This series is pulled from the wagashi counters and convenience-store shelves of a Japan we invented, sweets designed for a country that only exists on paper.
